Long Ride This Sunday, August 22nd at 7 AM

Hi All,

I'll be leading a long ride this Sunday starting at 7:00 AM from the NJ Transit Maplewood parking lot across from Arturo's. It's about 10 miles (the route was "stolen" from Andrew Riss who is leading Tues/Thu long rides).

I thought we might try some hill climbing this week.

Let me know who's in.

Bike Ride to the Red Bulls

Hi, this is Tim from Brick City Bike Collective in Newark.
Hope everyone has had a great biking summer!

Because Red Bull Arena is just across the river, we've been attending lots
of Red Bulls soccer games and really enjoying them. Getting there by bike
is a breeze...literally 5 minutes from downtown Newark or 3 minutes from
the Ironbound.

So we thought that going to a game would be a fun way for us NJ bikers to
all get together.

There are only a handful of home games left so we picked the game on
September 11 as our target...

Saturday Sept 11, 4PM
NY Red Bulls vs. Colorado Rapids
Prices range from $18 to $37 which is a discounted price for 15+ people.
(for seating info go to
We've sat in all the seats and all are OK because it's a small arena. I
recommend that, if we go for the cheap seats, we should sit in the
Supporters section with the crazed soccer fanatics. Those people are sooo
much fun! (warning: sometimes their language is not suitable for kids)

The game will last maybe 2-ish hours and afterward you can ride home or
party/eat with us in Newark. Maybe pitchers of sangria in the Ironbound?

Our idea is that we'd ride to the game, maybe originating in South Orange,
Montclair, or somewhere we can get a decent (5-10 mile) ride in beforehand.
Some of you may want to drive to Newark so that you don't have to bike back
to your car, etc., in which case you'd join the tour there. Or maybe we can
borrow a truck to take the bikes back to your cars in S.Orange or wherever?
An idea to explore, anyway.

BCBC will do the coordination of tickets and parking in Newark, route
maps, etc. We need to know your thoughts and how many are interested. To
get the discount and be able to buy blocks of tickets we need to purchase
them before the 11th. If you'd like to do a 5-10 mile ride to the game,
give me an idea of a good route through your city and we'll add the Newark
and Harrison segments to your route.

Hope we get a big crowd!!!
